December 7th

We finished our Bat theme this week;  we learned about different types of bats and the bat books we wrote based on the book 'Rosie's Walk' turned out really cool - our bats fly from page to page!  We'll share these sometime at our Family Reading.

"Skating was awesome!" commented one of the students and I couldn't agree more.  It was so exciting to see so many children (who had never skated or had just gone 1/2 times before) improve so much over the 45 minutes.  Their pride and smiles were great to see!  Thanks to all the drivers that made skating possible.    We will definitely try to go at least one more time this year.

Yesterday we started our Christmas Reader's Workshop stations.  We changed table groups today and made some neat group posters.  Today we also made a people graph of "Who Has Their Christmas Trees Up?"  9 of us have them up already, 4 were putting them up this weekend and 8 will be waiting till later in the month.   Could you please practice the Christmas songs in our Literacy Folders as we need to memorize these for the concert on December 18/19th.  Thanks for your help.

Scholastic went home today, the due date says December 7th please ignore that but return by Monday or Tuesday at the latest as I am hoping that they will arrive before Christmas (no guarantees though).  If it is a gift please just mark that on order and I will be sure to put it in a bag and if possible give it directly to you.

Volunteers needed to do some Christmas crafts next week.  Cole's mom is coming on Monday morning so if anyone else is available please just come or if Tuesday or Wednesday a.m. works better for you that could also work for us.  Thank you for your assistance with this.

New Just Right Reading books will be going home next week,
