November 8th

Just a reminder there is no school tomorrow or Monday due to the Altered Calendar and Remembrance Day.

Thanks so much to the parents who drove (Jordyn's Mom, Jaxon's Mom and Dad, Geena's Dad and Kendra's Mom)  for the field trip to the Justice Institute.  It was an amazing experience for the students.   The highlights were:  the house maze and using the flashlights and then the infra red camera to find the missing firefighter, spraying the fire hose, going in the fire truck and being able to ring the siren and use the loud speaker, the Sparky movie, and watching the fire fighter get all his gear on.

We have continued our theme work on Bats!  We even got to see a real dead bat!  With our buddies we are making a cool lap book with all kinds of facts about bats.  Today some of us did this very neat Bat App on the I Pad, next week more of us will have a chance to do this.

Ms Morrison is our student teacher and she will be in our class for the whole month of November.  She has some planned some interesting lessons for us on Bats.

We just started some new math stations - two of the stations are "Batty Math!"  We are measuring paper bats with unifix cubes, paper clips and pennies and the other one is Bat Match - matching numbers with the number of flies that the bat has eaten.  The others focus on number concepts and a review of pattern.

We had a Remembrance Day assembly today and learned why we wear a poppy and have this special day to remember all the people who died and fought in the wars.

Next week we have our field trip to the library on Friday afternoon.  We are short drivers so if you can help out please let me know asap.  Also could all parents please remember to send their child's booster's seats whenever we have a field trip.  We were scrambling on Tuesday and were worried that we wouldn't have enough.

Please return Scholastic book orders if you would like to purchase any books this month.
