Division 9’s November 14th Update!

We have another busy but short week ahead.  I am sending this notice home but it is exactly what is on the blog so you see how important it is to be checking the blog weekly.

Friday (November 16th) is our field trip to the library.  We are still short spaces for 5 students so if anyone can drive that would be really appreciated.  Jordyn’s mom has offered to make a couple of trips if needed and that is what we will do if needed.  Students that have their own library card must bring it to school that day (I recommend that you put this in a labeled baggie in your child’s jacket pocket as we will not be taking backpacks with us to the library).  Please make sure to send your child’s booster seat to school that day.  By law all students under nine must use a booster seat.  Last week we were scrambling and making last minute phone calls to ensure we had enough.  Unfortunately if this problem arises again and we do not have enough booster seats, the students without them would have to stay at school.  Thank you for your support with this safety issue.

Tuesday, November 20th is PAJAMA DAY (originally this was Friday but it has been changed) students can wear their pajamas to school and are encouraged to bring a twoonie or loonie to donate to charity.  Students will still be going outside for recess so please ensure they are warm ‘pjs’ or that they have another pair of pants to put over top of their pajamas.

Next week we have two exciting things happening!   We will be starting our Family Reading and our Mystery Sharing.
1)    Every morning from 8:30-8:45 you are welcome and encouraged to come into our classroom for some special reading time.  This is a relaxed, informal time that parents, grandparents, aunts/uncles (siblings too) are welcome to come and read with a small group of students.  We will start Monday, November 19th and hopefully the response will be good so that we can continue to have this daily reading.

2)    Mystery Sharing!  Each day of the week the children will have an opportunity to bring something from home to share. For the rest of November the children can have “free choice” of what they bring.  They should plan ahead, 3 clues or hints that they will give the class about their mystery object …
For example:  It begins with the letter s.  I like to play with it outside.  I can now even do some tricks with it.      (Skipping Rope)

MONDAY  -  Jakob, Cole, Karman, Madison
TUESDAY - Morgan, Sarabeth, Jordyn, Nicholas K
WEDNESDAY - Emily, Colin, Kendra, Geena
THURSDAY - Zackary, Hila, Dharma, Emma
FRIDAY – Jaxon, Makayla, Ashton, Nic
If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to call or write me a note.  Thanks for your support in your child’s learning.     Sheralyn Rowledge-Toscani
